Background:	OsSSIIIa (Os08g0191433/FLO5) is a chloroplastic/amyloplastic soluble starch synthase that plays an important role in generating relatively long amylopectin chains in the rice endosperm. Its mutation leads to a white-core floury endosperm (flo5) phenotype, increased resistant starch (RS) content, and reduced amylopectin long chains.
